According to the Federal Opium Agency, the import quantities of cannabis for medical and scientific use have been continuously increasing. Since 2017, so-called cannabis medicines can be prescribed on a case-by-case basis for therapeutic purposes in patients with serious illnesses.

Cannabis is classified as a narcotic, and therefore requires a permit from the Federal Institute for Drugs and Medical Devices (BfArM) to acquire cannabis for analytical or scientific purposes and to produce preparations from it.

Our laboratory has now been granted this permit until August 31, 2025.
